A few words About Me
I am a graduate of the Department of Biology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.U.Th.), with a Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Glasgow and a PhD from Edinburgh Napier University. I am currently conducting my postdoctoral research at Linköping University in Sweden, where I study the interaction between the nervous and immune systems and how this relates to gastrointestinal diseases.
Why I Chose My Career
I have always been fascinated by the human body and its functions. At some point, I was introduced to Biology, and the field captivated me. After finishing high school, I chose to become a Biologist. Once I completed my degree, I decided to continue my studies in the homeland of Dolly the sheep. In doing so, I fulfilled one of my dreams: I saw up close one of the modern achievements of Biology, gained knowledge and experience that allow me to work in research, and now I am living my own dream—contributing my small part to understanding how the human body works.
Why I Became a Volunteer at R.E.A.L Science
I chose to volunteer at R.E.A.L Science because the organization offers a unique opportunity for students in Greek schools to talk, learn, and dream about their future. Most importantly, each student can see that someone who once had the same dream as they do actually made it come true. In that way, the dream stops being just a dream. It transforms into opportunities and goals, ultimately helping students live their own dream one day.
