About Me

Hello! My name is Marianthi — or Mary, as most people call me. I am a mathematician, having completed my undergraduate degree in Mathematics at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, followed by a Master’s in Mathematical Sciences. I am now in the final year of my PhD in Applied Mathematics, more specifically in Mathematical Physics.

I’m not a “crazy mathematician,” just someone who has always loved the sciences and decided to specialize in the mother of them all — Mathematics. I enjoy sharing knowledge with young minds, which naturally led me to teaching, a profession I truly love.

Why I Chose My Career

Curiosity about how the world works drew me to the sciences. From there, everything fell into place. At school, math problems felt like puzzles — I couldn’t rest until I found the solution. So studying Mathematics, and later doing research in Mathematical Physics, was a natural choice for me.

Why I Became a Volunteer at R.E.A.L Science

I believe this platform is a wonderful opportunity for students to connect with people who have built meaningful careers in science and to demystify many misconceptions. It is possible to achieve things that seem intimidating, and it helps to talk to people who can remind us of that through their own experience. That is the main reason I chose to participate in this initiative.
