A few words About Me

I was born and raised on the island of Leros, a remote part of Greece where access to urban centers is limited. Even so, nothing stopped me from discovering the fascinating world of computing. From a very young age, I grew up in a home where there was always a computer—starting my journey with my father’s Amiga 500.

My entire world changed when I first accessed the internet in 1994, and I was instantly captivated by web design and web development.

I graduated from the former ATEI of Kavala in Industrial Informatics and have been working professionally as a programmer based on my island since 2014, specializing in web application development and Frontend Engineering.

From 2016 to 2019, I served as regional director of a branch of a Cypriot multinational company, helping establish a Greek office on Leros. My goal was to create a different work model and attract Greek IT professionals to our island. Over three years, I managed to hire 11 people from Thessaloniki, Chalkida, Samos, and Leros, building a programming team by the sea.

I was responsible for their training from 2017 to 2019, working remotely on large multinational projects alongside colleagues from Romania and Moldova, developing applications for SAP systems.

Since August 2019, I have been working remotely as a frontend engineer for a US‑based company, while also working as a UI/UX designer. I am a music lover, volunteer blood donor, comic enthusiast, and all‑around geek.

Why I Chose My Career

I’ve always seen programming as similar to composing music—only instead of notes, we use code. Like music, programming offers endless knowledge to explore, and that’s what excites me.

Why I Became a Volunteer at R.E.A.L Science

I believe I can help someone who wants to pursue computer science by sharing advice and insights from my experience in the industry.
