A few words About Me
My name is Lia and I am 23 years old. I studied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, and I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Neuroscience. When I’m not busy with my studies, you’ll find me painting, cooking, or buried in a book—always with music playing in the background.
Why I Chose My Career
It all started with a desire to understand the human brain. To understand why someone feels sadness and how that differs from depression… Why someone is introverted and how that differs from being on the autism spectrum. Why someone might feel that their life is in danger and how that differs from schizophrenia.
During my studies in Biochemistry and Biotechnology, I learned how to ask more scientific questions and search for more scientific answers. That gave me a glimpse into what it’s like to design an experiment, carry it out, and then defend it. And that’s why I continued on to a Master’s degree.
Why I Became a Volunteer at R.E.A.L Science
Regardless of my studies, I have always loved talking about the things I’m passionate about—whether it’s a hobby, my academic field, or even a book I’m reading. R.E.A.L Science is an opportunity for me to talk to kids about neuroscience and the brain, with the hope of sharing my enthusiasm and maybe, if I’m lucky, inspiring a few of them. That’s something I find truly beautiful and something I want to be part of.
