About Me
I was born and raised in Epirus. I completed both my undergraduate and Doctoral Studies in Chemical Engineering at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. That is also where I began my professional career and started my family.
Today, my family and I live in Qatar, where I work as an academic (Associate Professor) at Texas A&M University. My daily work involves teaching, research, and consulting in areas related to chemical engineering, atmospheric pollution, solar energy, and educational technologies.
Why I Chose My Career
My driving forces have always been learning and creating, which naturally led me to engineering. Everything else unfolded through small — and sometimes accidental — choices. I knew almost nothing about the profession of a chemical engineer, especially within academia and research, before starting my studies, and it took years to fully understand the field.
From the beginning, I was fascinated by the breadth of the discipline and the ability to synthesize information, matter, and energy into something new, different, and potentially better. For a period after my studies, I worked as a consultant and technical advisor, but research, technology, the need to learn, and the freedom to share knowledge ultimately won me over.
Why I Became a Volunteer at R.E.A.L Science
To share the information I didn’t have — but very much wish my own children will have.
