A few words About Me

Welcome to my profile! My name is Christos. I graduated from the School of Dentistry in Thessaloniki in 2021, and I currently work as a dentist in England, both within the National Health Service and privately. At the same time, I am completing my Master’s degree in Oral Surgery at the University of Manchester and I am enrolled in the Science Communication postgraduate program at the Hellenic Open University.

Alongside my main profession, I work as a voice‑over artist and host the podcast “Gnosi S’ Afton”, which has been nominated twice for Best Podcast (TDF23, TiFF63). I also had the honor of creating “Anichneyontas to Parelthon”, the first podcast produced under the auspices of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In the past, I performed stand‑up comedy for several years and have been heavily involved in volunteer work.

I know what it’s like to take the Panhellenic exams. I know what it’s like to study Health Sciences in Greece. I know what it’s like to enter the chaos of the job market and try to decide whether to stay in Greece or move abroad. I’d be more than happy to discuss your concerns and answer any questions you may have.

Why I Chose My Career

I love science. Since childhood, I’ve had an innate curiosity—a natural drive to learn new things and create. My podcast allows me to learn while creating, and Dentistry allows me to work in the health sector and treat people, something I consider a tremendous privilege.

Why I Became a Volunteer at R.E.A.L Science

I would have loved for something like R.E.A.L. Science to exist when I was a student—an opportunity to discover the sciences through the eyes of experienced and inspiring people. Now that it exists, I feel it is almost my duty to support it and stand by today’s students and tomorrow’s scientists.

And besides, interacting with young people doesn’t just help them. It helps us too.
